White House won
White House won
thehill.comWhite House won't rule out future executive action on immigrationThe White House on Tuesday would not categorically rule out future executive actions to address immigration, while continuing to maintain "there is not" anything the president could do in lieu of congressional action on comprehensive reform.“I dont want to speculate about what sort of actions the president might or might not take," White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters.Obama has come under pressure from immigration activists, who have challenged the president to act unilaterally now that a comprehensive immigration bill appears stalled in the House. The president was heckled twice during events in San Francisco on Monday while discussing immigration reform, with protesters each time demanding an end to deportations via executive order. In 2012, the Obama administration announced it would stop deporting some illegal immigrants who entered the United States as children, assuming they met certain criteria. But the White House has maintained that path is not feasible for the nation's entire immigrant population, arguing, as Obama did Monday, that the issue must be addressed legislatively."If, in fact, I could solve all these problems without passing laws in Congress, then I would do so," Obama told one of the hecklers who interrupted his speech at the Betty Ong Chinese Recreation Center. "But were also a nation of laws.Thats part of our tradition. And so the easy way out is to try to yell and pretend like I can do something by violating our laws."But while the White House has ruled out a sweeping halt to deportations, it is unclear whether Obama could use his executive authority, which includes the ability to grant temporary work permits, to help some of those here illegally.Still, Earnest stressed that the White House believed congressional action was the only way to fully address the issue.“We have been very clear that the problem that the president is trying to solve here is one that can only be solved with the Congress, and that problem is an immigration system that everybody acknowledges is broken," he said.
The Lawsuit to End Obamacare
The Lawsuit to End Obamacare
By Elizabeth
Nelson

Did you hear, theres a
lawsuit before the Supreme Court that could bring bring an end to Obamas
signature healthcare law, and it would be the Democrats fault. Why, just the Demo-wits you ask, because none of the Republicans voted for it.The
Constitution specifically says revenue-raising bills must originate in theHouse, and since the bill that became what
we now know as Obamacare was written in theSenate,HouseRepublicans say thats a problem.
Led byRep. Trent Franksof Arizona, 40 members of
theHousehave signed onto a lawsuit challenging the
Affordable Care Act on the grounds that it violates the Origination Clause
because it failed to originate in the correct house ofCongress.
The lawsuit, filed by thePacific Legal
Foundation in Sacramento, Calif., is now before theU.S. Court of Appealsfor the District of Columbia. A
federal judge sided in June with theObama
administrations defense of the sweeping health-insurance law.
“Given that an Origination
Clause challenge against a taxing bill of this magnitude has never before been
mounted, it is imperative thatthis
Courtnot sanction thelower courts superficial analysis of
the Origination Clause,” saidtheHouseRepublicans
“friend-of-the-court” brief filed Nov. 8.

The Obama administration may
be alarmed over the dismal number of people signing up for Obamacare, the
rising health-care costs for Americans, the legal challenges to the religious
discrimination embedded in the law and other problems. But all of that would be of no
consequence if a lawsuit in federal court in Washington succeeds. It alleges
senators overstepped their authority in creating the Affordable Care Act and
the law, therefore, is null and void. The case argues that since the
U.S. Constitution requires that revenue-raising measures originate in the U.S.
House and Obamacare was created in the Senate, the law is unconstitutional. The
case is headed toward the Supreme Court.

Senate Majority Leader Harry
Reid, D-Nev., who has been leading the Obamacare charge since its inception,
took a House-passed bill, deleted its contents and then substituted the
Senates 2,000-page bill. Read more at WND
Now, some may
just “dismiss” this and figure it “will fail,” but if Hobby Lobby had not kept
on keeping on, and had decided to keep the stone in the sling and not thrown
the rock at their Obamacare Giant, theywouldn'thave finally slayed him. They won their lawsuit
and are now not required to pay for contraceptives that they feel are abortifacients.

Results from the Q3 2013 PL SQL Championship now available!
You will find below the rankings for the 2013-3 championship; the number next to the player's name is the number of times that player has participated in a championship.
Congratulations first and foremost to our top-ranked players:
1st Place: Michal Cvan of Slovakia2nd Place: mentzel.iudith of Israel3rd Place: Janis Baiza of Latvia
We do not see 100% correct on the championship very often. Michal took his time, answered with care...and walked away with the top prize! Iudith was not far off Michal's flawless accuracy, with just one incorrect choice. Janis took a somewhat different approach, cruising through the quizzes in just 14-1/2 minutes and still scoring quite a high level of correctness.
Congratulations to everyone who played in the championship. I hope you found it entertaining, challenging and educational. And for those who were not able to participate in the championship, you can take the quizzes next week through the Practice feature.

My middle name!
My middle name!
If you got a copy of the Christmas card list and saw me on there, you may have noticed I have a middle name! If you do no have the list, I'll tell you what it is : Megatron. I don't think I look much like a Megatron...but then what does a Megatron look like, anyway?

THAT'S Megatron!? He looks scary!
No, I definitally do not look like a Megatron!
b.jpg)
I am MUCH more handsome! So then...why is Megatron my middle name? Because Momma refused to make it my first name! Can you imagine my first name being Megatron?! BOL! Momma says that that's what my poppa wanted to name me, but she said NO. However since she does like my poppa, she said it could be my middle name.
So that's why my middle name is Megatron! Does any other doggie out there have a middle name like me?

John Smallman ~ Your collective ability to hold the intent to awaken is strengthening - John Smallman, 11282013
"Today is Thanksgiving in the United States of America, but wherever you are on planet Earth there is good reason for giving thanks – you are alive and conscious, therefore you are a divine child of God, eternally loved and secure within Him, the One Source from which all that exists is created for everlasting joy. You are dreaming now, as you continue to engage with the illusory realm that you built, but you are on the path to awakening, and when you do awaken your joy will overwhelm you.Your awakening is guaranteed, it is inevitable, there is no other option because, as divine beings created by God for eternal joy, your will and His are One, and His Will is that you shall awaken. You decided, briefly, to experience separation – a state that cannot exist simply because God created all as One with Him and within Him, and He is Reality, all that exists, there is nowhere to be separate – and so the illusion was born and you entered within it and closed off your awareness of God and of who You truly are, temporarily. It does seem that you have been enveloped within it for eons, and that is part of its illusory nature, but in truth your presence there has only been momentary, a brief moment of intense fantasy, as you will realize when you awaken.
God is Love, and because He created you, you too are Love. Love is undiscriminating, utterly inclusive, accepting and embracing of all that exists, and separation from It is utterly impossible! Nothing that God creates is ever separate from Him, and He is the only Creator. What you have been apparently experiencing for eons, a state of existence separate from Him and from one another, truly is an illusion no matter how real it seems to you while you are experiencing it – you have a term for a modern computer application “virtual reality,” which is like a very much scaled down version of the illusion that you constructed for yourselves. You could perhaps say “What goes around comes around.” It seems that you wanted an even more illusory illusion as an escape from the one that has seemingly contained you for so long!
Well you will escape by awakening into Reality, not by building another illusion! We in the spiritual realms are here to assist you in that process, and we are available to you 24/7, so do not hesitate to call on us. Humanity has made the collective decision to awaken, but many of you keep forgetting to hold the intent, and our job is to remind you to do so whenever you meditate or pray, or call on us for help.
Your collective ability to hold the intent to awaken is strengthening and intensifying as the Light bearers, wayshowers, and starseeds among you become ever more competent at sharing and extending the fields of Love that surround and envelop each one of you. You are all, all of humanity, enveloped in the divine field of Love in every moment of your eternal existence, but due to the decision to experience separation your awareness of this became very indistinct, unfocused, almost lost. Now that awareness is being restored, and as that happens you are reconnecting and weaving together your individual energy fields in a beautifully harmonious expression or reflection, in fact an exact mirror image of Gods Love for all of you, and it is drawing you together in recognition of your inseparable Oneness. What is occurring is absolutely magnificent, and you are observing signs of this everywhere as more and more of you come together in prayer and meditation all across the world with the intent to promote peace and harmony among all peoples. New groups are forming daily for this divine purpose which further increases the strength and intensity of Love that you are now willingly and enthusiastically offering to all. The Light of human Love, an extension of Gods Love, is becoming ever brighter as you clean up your “mirrors” by removing all the smuts and congealed dirt that has dulled them – the unloving attitudes, mistrust, exclusivity, rejection, and judgments that have plagued humanity for so long – thus making them shine quite brilliantly as they also reflect the brightness of His Love for all of you.The apparent eons that you have spent separated from God and from each other has left you feeling unworthy because the only reason you can conceive of for being separated from Him is because you are unworthy. But, of course, you are not! You were created perfect and nothing can ever change that, and you are now coming to understand the truth of that. Just as in the biblical story of “The Prodigal Son” you are loved by your Father, and there is nothing you can do to alter that, His Love for you is eternal.Make a point of relaxing at least once daily, and preferably more often (3 or 4 times would be good) into your quiet inner space to commune with your guides and mentors and allow them to reassure you of your Fathers Love for you by embracing you in an intense and powerful energy hug. And allow yourselves to feel it instead of doubting it, because then you most certainly will. You are not alone, you have never been alone, and you never will be alone, Oneness with your Father and one another is forever. And you are now moving steadily into the awareness of this as you approach the moment of your awakening."With so very much love, Saul

For Those Who Wait
For Those Who Wait
On my calendar for this month is the last photo of this post. I love that photo so much. Sure, it's a pretty picture, but that's not the half of it. I remember that hike very vividly. It was so long, so hot, so dusty. The scenery was nice enough, but absolutely nothing prepared me for looking back on it and seeing what it looked like from that perspective. So, I've been thinking about this post because of that. I've been thinking about it because Halloween has already been and Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming and those can be tough. I've been thinking about waiting because we are approaching Advent. But it took a friend talking about her wait right now that made me say that I should maybe repost this. So I am, but with some changes. Because it's my post and I can if I want to. And because my perspective has changed some. Original is here, if you're interested. Praying for all of you who are struggling and waiting right now, whatever that may be for you. Many of the things that we strive for in life starts with the promise of something beautiful. Perhaps it is waiting for a spouse or for children. Perhaps it is trying to live out that vocation faithfully. I won't even try to list everything, but they would not be the deepest desires of our hearts if they were not calling to us with such beauty and infinite worth.
This hike starts in the cool of the morning, when everyone is energized and excited and ready to go (please, even if you are not a morning person, I defy you to not be energized and excited at the beginning of a hike!) No one expects the journey to be easy, exactly, but we do expect it to be worth it. We don't really question if we will make it. Who starts a journey with that thought in mind?Yet if you have hiked long enough (or waited and struggled long enough) you learn to realize that the outcome is not a given. You may run low on supplies, you may have bad weather move in, someone may get a blister. If you're smart, you have to learn that you have to turn around sometimes. You also know that it is possible that it could turn really bad. There are no guarantees. There can be injury and death. Most of those dangers can be mitigated by the right preparation, but stepping out on to the trail means assuming the weight of those dangers. This particular hike, my friend and I drove over an hour outside of Moab to go to Canyonlands National Park.It was a fairly remote location, so there were comparatively few people at the trailhead. Those that were there knew what faced them. Beautiful scenery, and a wonderful hike, but also hard work that required the appropriate preparation in order to reach the destination and return safely to the car. When you are hiking upwards of 11 miles in the desert as opposed to 1/2 mile, the stakes go way up.I only wish you could have been there with me. I can't describe what it's like to be out there with almost no one around. Most of the time, it was just my friend and I. It was hot, and we were working hard, and we got blisters and we sweated, and our feet ached. We carried a good amount of weight on our back, including lots of water, food and layers. There was a fine dust that we kicked up with every step, and I wondered if the walk would ever end.I thought of you, my friends who wait. I know that you did not pick this journey. I know that it seems hard and seems like it may never end and you may not make it to the destination. I wish I could tell you that you'll get there eventually, but the truth is, some of us won't get to the place we'd planned on going. It's always a disappointment, but I've yet to regret going on a hike and how it has helped me to grow, despite that disappointment.I also thought of my friends that are no longer waiting, but have waited. You know how hard the journey is and you have made it to the end. I see in you that you know that the destination and return are not a given. You get it, and you appreciate everything so much more as a result. And for those of you that are still waiting? I have more bad news. Most of us that get out and do longer hikes and get away from the crowds, we usually are somewhat battered and broken as a result. There are injuries to nurse and scars that tell of the great (and not so great) times that we've had. Most are minor enough in nature, but you don't do this kind of thing and come though without being changed for it.Anyway, this particular hike was to Druid Arch. It involved walking through some narrow areas, scrambling over and around rocks, and trudging through fine sand that made every step take twice the energy. Most of the day, we followed a wash up through a canyon. We could look up and see some great views at times.
And often there are beautiful, simple moments along the way.
Have you ever, in the journey of waiting, had a feeling of hope so strong you almost touch it? Then you realize, hope notwithstanding, you still have a long ways to go? My friends, here it is in picture.
I didn't recognize it at first, because it's sideways to us, but the tower to the right by the tree is Druid Arch. First I was so excited, because I realized I was almost to the end of the hike. But then my excitement was dampened, because I realized that the arch was still quite high above where we were. I had a sneaking suspicion that there was still a fair amount of work to do to get to our destination.I was right.First, we walked up rock that was steep enough I didn't know for sure if we'd be able to walk on it at first. We could. Then there was a ladder and a bar that you could hold onto to get you to the next platform. The arch was closer, but still high. And that's when the trail got steep. You know how it is when you're waiting? Sometimes you trudge along, putting one step in front of the other.Sometimes it's relatively easy.Sometimes you have to stop and take a rest because you can't go anymore. Sometimes it's fun. Sometimes there are intensely beautiful moments. Sometimes it's freaking hot, and you're dusty and you're tired, and why aren't we there yet, dammit?!And sometimes it's like that trail was in that moment. Steep and ridiculous. This "trail" did not look like something that sane people would attempt. When I tried to follow the trail with my eyes, I could not figure it out. At this point in the hike, the arch was blocked from view. I was about ready to shrug and turn around, but followed my friend instead. All you could do was a few steps at a time, then stop to re-evaluate and see where the next step was. Everything was so twisted and hidden from view until you were on top of it.But, then. There was the moment that I have not personally experienced, but that I have heard in the hearts of those who have waited.I couldn't find the next step. I looked up and it wasn't there, and I finally looked to the side and I saw the step. I was so focused on the trail, that I was only looking at the rocks at my feet until I saw my friend grinning at me and my difficulty with finding the trail. I realized what was going on when I raised my eyes a fraction higher.
This is the "Holy crap! It's there!" moment. Seriously, I stopped right there and pulled out the camera before I took another step. I thought of all those trudging along, not realizing anything would be different about that day, but it became the day that they finally got the call for an adoption, or they finally got the pregnancy test that came up positive.Pictures really can't convey how huge and awesome this thing is, though here's one with my friend walking towards it to try to give some idea. It was worth the loads of sweat, the sore feet, and the miles in the fine sandy spots that stole all the energy.
Here's the thing. A year after the hike, I don't remember the first moment of seeing the arch like I remember the moment of turning around and looking back the way we had come.I liked looking back where we came from, only this time my view was from above looking down, rather from the canyon floor looking up. Our wash, which seemed wide enough when we were walking, was only a dark crack in the view. It reminded me that sometimes the perspective that we have during the journey will not make as much sense until we get to the end. I also thought of this incredibly beautiful sight that we shared with only two other people. A long journey is definitely the road less traveled because of the work and the sweat and the pain involved, but the rewards are worth the effort and so few get to experience it! And I absolutely believe that here and/or in heaven, the rewards of waiting will be worth it. Further, at that time, we may actually begin to consider ourselves the lucky ones, whether we get what we initially wanted or not.
The trail was below the bottom whitish layer. Also, I think you get the idea of why the area we were in is referred to as the Needles District. So, my friends who are still waiting, this one's for you. I'm praying that your "holy crap" moment is soon, but more than that, I am praying that when you turn around, you will be in awe of the place that this journey has taken you. That all the dust and heat and weariness and soreness will have combined to work a transformation in you that you did not see in the drudgery of simply putting one foot in front of the other during the hardest of times, but that you will see and be in awe of when you reach a new place of perspective.
Constantin to Restart Production on 'Mortal Instruments' Sequel in 2014
Constantin to Restart Production on 'Mortal Instruments' Sequel in 2014

THRBERLIN – Constantin is pushing ahead with its adaptations of Cassandra Clares best-selling Mortal Instruments franchise and plans to restart production on the second film in the series, The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes, next year.
Constantin slammed the brakes on City of Ashes, which had already begun production, after the first film in the planned franchise, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, underperformed at the box office.
City of Bones, starring Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower, opened to $14 million over its first five-day weekend and grossed about $31 million domestically for Sony/Screen Gems. But the film, which was also critically panned, had a reported $60 million budget, with Sony putting up an estimated $60 million more to promote the film's release.
Nevertheless, Martin Moszkowicz, Constantin Films head of film and TV, said Clares massive fan base has responded positively to the adaptation and that Constantin is determined to continue the franchise.
"The fan response, from the blogosphere and the thousands of mails we have received, has encouraged us to keep going,” Moszkowicz told The Hollywood Reporter. “It's been overwhelmingly positive, in contrast to some other YA titles.”
Moszkowicz said international returns for City of Bones means the first films worldwide take is now close to $100 million but admits box-office revenue was below Constantins forecasts.
“We are analyzing what we did wrong with the first film -- particularly with the positioning and marketing -- and what changes we have to make. We are working with a great group of people to reposition the franchise [for City of Ashes].”
Moszkowicz suggested one reason for City of Bones misfire may have been a marketing campaign that was too narrowly focused on teenage fans, to the detriment of Clares 20- and 30-something readers.
“The readers of Mortal Instruments are older than you might think,” he said. “That may have been one issue in our marketing, that we focused too much on a very young audience segment."
What exactly this will mean for City of Bones is unclear. In addition to studying its marketing mistakes, Constantin will be picking through the Harald Zwart-directed feature to see if the script, casting or style needs to be tweaked for City of Ashes. Sigourney Weaver had been attached to join the cast of the Mortal Instruments sequel.
variety Constantin board member Martin Moszkowicz told Variety: ”We are analyzing exactly what went wrong, and that needs some time. Well go back to the drawing board, and well work on the screenplay; well work on the elements of the movie; and then well budget it.”

Zwart may return as the helmer of “City of Ashes.” ”We are talking to him and others. At the moment there is no director attached,” Moszkowicz said. ”It also depends on his professional availability of course.”
Moszkowicz said that Constantin “strongly believes” in the franchise, which is adapted from a series of best-selling books for young adults by Cassandra Clare. The books have sold 26 million copies, and Constantin also has the rights to other Clare young adult franchises, including three-book series “Infernal Devices,” and the upcoming five-book series “The Magisterium,” which is co-written with the author of “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” Holly Black. The first book in the “Magisterium” series, “The Iron Trial,” will be published next year.
“We believe strongly in her and the world that she has brought to the readers, but we feel that the movie obviously under-performed. Something was wrong there, and we are trying to make it right the next time,” Moszkowicz said.
Changes to the marketing strategy are in the cards, including the target demo. “Maybe we have targeted too young an audience,” he said. “They are very outspoken, especially in the social media world; they are extremely active. But the readers of the books are from 14 to 34 — thats the main age group — and maybe some of them had issues with how it was marketed. We need to go behind that, and find out exactly what it was.
“It is an ongoing discussion that we are having, and it is not done. We havent made a final decision. But we will only move forward — and we plan to move forward — when we feel we are going to get it right,” Moszkowicz said.
Although the intention is to shoot the film sometime next year, it is not carved in stone.
“That is the plan, but it is not a given,” Moszkowicz said. “We believe in that franchise, and we would like to do that, but we need to get it right.”
